Cyberbullying is when a child, preteen or teen is tormented, threatened, harassed, humiliated, embarrassed or otherwise targeted by another child, preteen or teen using the Internet, interactive and digital technologies or mobile phones. It has to have a minor on both sides, or at least have been instigated by a minor against another minor. Once adults become involved, it is plain and simple cyber-harassment or cyberstalking. Adult cyber-harassment or cyberstalking is NEVER called cyberbullying.
Posting or sending cruel gossip to damage a person’s reputation, self-confidence and relationships with friends, family, and acquaintances.
Deliberately excluding someone from an online group.
Breaking into someone’s e-mail or other online accounts and sending messages in order to cause embarrassment or damage to person’s reputation and affect victim’s relationship with others.
Sharing nude, offensive or private photos, videos or messages of victim without their knowledge and consent. Repeatedly sending rude, humiliating messages and posts or making hate groups is also considered online harassment.
Posting or sending unwanted or intimidating messages which may include threats.
Sending or posting threatening images, posts or messages implying violent behavior, blackmailing and displaying suicidal tendencies.
